A professional range is the heaviest thing in the kitchen and the hardest to get at. Most of what fails on one at the beach fails on the surface first.
Built-in refrigeration fails quietly here. The condenser loses airflow, the defrost drain ices up and the ice maker loses fill volume, and none of it announces itself.
Cooktops sit in the counter with very little space beneath them, which makes ventilation, moisture and control heat the three things worth checking first.
Touch controls do not respond or respond to the wrong zone
An induction zone drops out under a heavy pan
Element glows and then cuts out early, over and over
A wall oven lives in a cabinet that cannot be moved, so the whole repair happens through the front opening and the cabinet cutout decides what is possible.
A dishwasher rarely stops outright. It washes worse, runs longer or leaves water behind first, and each of those points at a different part of the machine.
An outdoor kitchen at the beach has the hardest life of anything on the property. Nothing out there gets a break from the salt, and the parts are consumable.
Igniter clicks but the burner will not catch
Flame is uneven along the length of a burner tube
Rotisserie motor hums and does not turn

A range is what an appliance this size can honestly be described by before anyone has opened
it; the firm figure is written down after the diagnostic and before a part is ordered. Every
repair carries 90 days on labour and 365 days on parts.
Asked on the phone
Which of these repairs turns up most at the beach?
Ventilation first, then the cooking surface, then refrigeration. A hood is the only appliance whose job is to pull outside air through itself, so it meets the chloride load head on. Burner caps and grates go next, and refrigeration fails quietly enough that it is usually reported late.
Is the diagnostic charged per appliance or per visit?
Per appliance. Flat $80 diagnostic covering the visit and the full diagnostic sequence, credited toward the repair once you approve the work. Two appliances looked at on one visit are two diagnostics, and both are credited if both repairs go ahead. There is no separate call-out charge stacked on top and no premium for a beach address inside the service area.
Viking, the kitchen-appliance manufacturer, covers a wide range of kitchen equipment:
professional ranges, rangetops and cooktops, wall ovens, ventilation hoods, built-in refrigeration, dishwashers, outdoor grills. We do not service any other manufacturer's appliances,
and we will say so on the phone rather than send someone out.
The list above is also the outer edge of the trade. Kitchen appliances, one manufacturer. No heating, furnaces and heat pumps; no air conditioning, condensers and air handlers; no duct systems and whole-house ventilation — none of that is work this shop is equipped for or
licensed to touch, and a kitchen appliance company telling you otherwise would be
selling you a second visit. The only duct work here is the kitchen exhaust run behind a ventilation hood: the pipe that carries cooking air out of the room.
