# Accessibility

Most of our customers are between 40 and 65 and read this on a phone in bright coastal light. The site is built for that first.

How this site is built, and what to do if part of it does not work for you.

## What is in place

Body text is 17px minimum, in a slab serif chosen for weight on screen rather than for
fashion. Nothing on the site relies on text smaller than 13px, and 13px is only ever used
for uppercase labels.

Every semantic colour pair has a measured WCAG contrast ratio recorded next to it in the
stylesheet. Body text runs at 9.8:1 and no text pairing is below 4.5:1.

Focus is always visible: a 3px marine outline with a 3px offset, on every surface, never
removed.

The mobile menu is a plain button and a list. It works with the keyboard, Escape closes it,
and focus returns to the button.

There is a skip link to the main content as the first focusable element on every page.

- prefers-reduced-motion is respected. There is very little motion to begin with
— no parallax, no autoplaying anything, no carousel.

No content is conveyed by colour alone. The tetrapod motif is decorative and hidden from
assistive technology.

- Every page has exactly one h1 and a heading order that does not skip levels.

## Known gaps

This is a small site maintained by the person who does the repairs. If something here is hard
to use, saying so directly is the fastest way to get it fixed.
